A Community in Need.

Coat Drive

Annual coat drive chases the winter blues away.

Karate is a martial art that has been around for centuries and has a long history of community and caring. The roots of karate can be traced back to the Ryukyu Islands in Okinawa, Japan, where it was developed as a form of self-defense. Karate is based on the principles of respect, discipline, and self-control.

These principles are essential for developing a strong community and a sense of caring. In karate, students learn to respect each other and to work together as a team. They also learn to be patient and understanding and help each other out when needed.

The same can be said about the history of community awareness and selfless acts of philanthropic commitment that Len Brassard’s Twin City Family Martial Arts Center https://www.twincitykarate.com because when it comes to giving back to those who need support, guidance, a helping hand, or a safe place to learn how to embrace a whole new lifestyle, it’s not just Mr. Len who reaches out; It’s the entire team, from Instructors to new level students, associated family, friends, and alumnae who all get involved to make a change.

This is the time in New England when those who are less fortunate have faced devastating loss due to an extreme weather anomaly, financial loss, economic burden, or home instability, require warm winter clothing, and just can’t, for whatever reason, afford to provide these seasonal essentials for their kids or themselves. Community resources have been tested and are also in need of replenishing.

FMAC is now staging their annual Community Coat Drive through the end of October. Accepting gently used, clean, and in good shape coats and jackets of all sizes, other winter apparel gear; hats, gloves, scarves, snow pants etc.

Once received, all items will be made accessible to our community neighbors and friends in need. While you’re cleaning out your closet and getting rid of outgrown outerwear, won’t you consider donating it to our cause? The joy you will feel in giving back will warm your spirit as well.
